The UPPSC Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services Examination (commonly known as UPPSC PCS) is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. It recruits officers for various Group A and Group B posts in the state government including SDM, DSP, Block Development Officer, and other administrative positions.
The Prelims is an objective-type screening test with two compulsory papers. Only Paper I marks determine the cut-off; Paper II (CSAT) is qualifying with a 33% threshold.
The Mains examination is fully descriptive with **8 compulsory papers** – all count toward merit. It includes a Hindi paper, an Essay paper, and six General Studies papers (two of which are specific to Uttar Pradesh).
