
Punjab's premier examination for state civil services (PCS)
The PPSC Punjab Civil Services (Combined Competitive) Examination is conducted by the Punjab Public Service Commission to recruit officers for various Group A and Group B posts in the Punjab state government, including Deputy Superintendent of Police, Block Development and Panchayat Officer, and other administrative positions.
The Prelims is an objective-type screening test with two papers of 200 marks each. There is no negative marking. Paper II (CSAT) is qualifying with a 40% threshold.
The Mains examination is fully descriptive with 7 compulsory papers – Punjabi, English, Essay, and General Studies I–IV. All papers count toward merit.
The interview assesses the candidate's personality, communication skills, general awareness, and suitability for administrative roles in the Punjab state government.
